well sitting here wondering how will the world be without social media, how would we communicate with our friends and family, a friend told me it can easily be done because it was done perfectly fine in the past, yeah i agree with her but now that we have social media lets face it the world is a global village so easy for me to communicate with my friend Kate from China hahaha yeah i have a friend in China. Public Relations is practical and in order to do our daily PR jobs we need to keep in contact with the public but how will we do that if not via social media?

Online social media has taken over the Internet like wildfire, organizations that are not able to market themselves online suffer the consequences from competing businesses. Print press releases and media kits are still a necessary part of public relations, but social media is equally, if not more important than print PR. Sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn have all grown in popularity as a means to promote a business. If you have a public relations team that doesn't focus on social media, you need to revamp your current PR strategies and figure out how to start using social media to your benefit.

do you understand how important it is just to click LIKE on a Facebook page? so now imagine the whole world liking your Facebook company page, that right there is the art of PR and Social media so now, tell me how important is Social media in your everyday life? lets talk, shall we?
I would like to disagree with you but sadly I don't have a leg to stand on *giggles. The best way to describe the effect of social media on our daily lives is if one can compare it to the breath we take, yes I just said it. No sane organisation can function without it, no long-distance friendships can be formed and maintained without it. As you have already mentioned, Kate is very happy to have you as a friend...all thanx to your facebooking skills and forever tweetering. J
ReplyDeletelol thank you Mr Mankayi...kate is a happy friend indeed
DeleteI fully concur with you. Social Media is very important for any organisation or person. I personally use social media to interact with my friends, family just to mention a few. One cannot function without social media in this digital age:-)

DeleteInteresting topic I must say and yes social media is important to PR because unlike organising media conference to try and re-correct a mistake make by your brand for example you can just tweet of Facebook it which is fast, easy and cheap.

DeleteI agree with you , social media plays a vital role in our every day lives and same applies to organisations, therefore organisations have to follow the correct strategy of social media to market their brands effectively.

ReplyDeleteThis is how I view social media for an organization. I am the organization and through Facebook, twitter, Instagram etc we tell the world what we are doing, who we are doing it with and who we are connecting with. The organization (me) doing that I am extending my network and creating opportunities for the organization (myself). So it is vital to connect with people.
ReplyDeletethank you 'Ms' Tsambo, totally agree with you
DeleteI also agree with you mam
DeleteSpot on, hell I think even your friend in China will agree. Social media has made interacting with stakeholders so much easier and org. get to learn more about the lifestyles of their customers.
ReplyDeletethank you Isaac yep Kate knows that very well
DeleteSocial Media is the future. I repeat myself "Social Media is the future". The is a saying that goes like "Its either you adapt or you die" Charles Darwin. With that quoted I would encourage all PR and Media organisations to adapt and take social media serious because Social Media is a strategy not a trend. Trends disappear in time, but strategies will forever exist.
ReplyDeletelol a very smart man right there, thank you thato

DeleteNice one Rea.Indeed social media is important and organisations really need to adapt and start using them..For example when you not happy about the service you recieved @ a particular org you can just interact with them via social media platforms instead of having to write a letter that will take time to get to them, and that's if it will get there.

ReplyDeleteSocial media is the new way "IN" to get your company known quickly. People find it easier to find companies over social networks and yeah, it is much cheaper that way truth be told. So I agree wih ou when yu say that "If you have a public relations team that doesn't focus on social media, you need to revamp your current PR strategies and figure out how to start using social media to your benefit."
