i am very excited about this profession i am working towards PUBLIC RELATIONS, but do i realy know the work it comes with? today i was attending the SPRA (STUDENT'S PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSOCIATION) Industry talk at the University of Johannesburg and i must say it was pretty inpiring listening to people who are already in the industry telling us that PR is not realy about the glitz and glamour. This industry talk got me thinking about many things such as am i realy into PR, am i realy ready to fight for my company's corporate image, am i realy ready to meet and work with rude people, am i strong enough to handle the pressure and my answer to all this was yes i actually cannot wait to do all of that.

Corporate image is defined as the perceived sum of the entire organization, its objectives and plans. It encompasses the company's products, services, management style, communications activities and actions around the world. You as a PRP must make sure that your company's identity is always on point, make sure that people know your existance and mantain that, obviously all organizations have scandals but how you pull through as an organization is what matters, media is there to make or break you be smart about how you present your organization to the media that will count in the growth of your company. PRP's are the engines of every successfull company make sure you will be able to pride your self about your company, ofcourse we are not super beings we will make mistakes but in PR we cover our mistakes. Future PRP's game on.

  1. True that. The industry talk was interesting ei. But again it is one of our duties to create and maintain our organisations corporate image. Our organisations corporate image is vital because that is how our internal and external stakeholders persceive us. So it must be maintained

  3. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the The Industry Talk on Satuday but from what I heard, it was quite inspiring and informative.
What I have noticed is that many people who do not know what PR is really about seem to underestimate it, thinking that it is just one useless course but little do they know how our role is important, we have the company's image in our hands and it's up to us to make sure that i is always shining!!!!

  5. Great topic that you're bringing up for discussion, my take is that more than anything, PR is an "art". Its a profession that really and I mean REALLY needs one to think out of the box,I feel that people shouldn't be constrained by textbook book theory when in the industry, That's what I think would determine success. One of the speakers from the SPRA seminar I remember saying that "the theory on a textbook is based on a particular case study" what he meant by this is that real life situations especially in an industry that deals with people are always unpredictable.

  6. To build a image is very important as it entails who and what you are in the corporate world. As a public Relations Practioner it is advicable to know what surrounds you and what you make out of the oppertunity you get.
